Similkameen Seasonal Workers Program

Similkameen Seasonal Workers Program

Do you hire Foreign workers?

The program, funded by the Government of Canada’s Migrant Worker Support Network, is intended to bring support to foreign workers in the Similkameen Valley. The majority of them work in the agricultural community, but others are working as live-in caregivers (nannies). The program offers support to the workers and their employers with safety, medical, legal, banking and income tax concerns. Being a multi-service agency, LSCSS provides some of these services on a year-round basis to a broader clientele base, such as the Income Tax Clinic (Community Volunteer Income Tax Program) which is lead by CRA approved volunteers.

An agent, David Haro, visit farms on a regular basis during growing season to provide support to farm workers. His bilingualism (Spanish /English) helps bridge the language gap that some workers experience when coming to work in the area.
